Low position for fall prevention

The IMPULSE care bed features a low position for fall prevention. The low position is available for IMPULSE editions 400/400 LR, 420/420 LR and edition 500. Effective fall position is achieved at a reclining surface height from 15 cm in IMPULSE edition 500.

Extended fall prevention

The extended fall prevention function on the vertically retractable split side rails (VGS) provides tangible boundaries around the sleeping surface to prevent the bed occupant from unconsciously rolling out of bed. The handrail minimally but perceptibly raises the edge of the mattress. Occupants can climb over it easily at any time and so their freedom is not restricted.

Transfer position

IMPULSE low care beds have a transfer position that provides an intermediate height to move in and out of bed at sitting height. Combined with the mobilisation position of the siderail options GS and VGS, occupants can get into and out of bed comfortably, safely and independently.

Comfort sitting position

The button mechanism on the hand controller moves the bed into a comfortable, upright sitting position for the occupant. The comfort sitting position has a positive effect on vital functions, facilitates orientation for residents/patients and allows them to communicate with each other.

Trendelenburg position

The Trendelenburg position can be a good measure to assist with stabilising occupants with circulatory problems. The motorised adjustment in the head-lowering device enables quick action in an emergency.

A fresh and homely approach to fall prevention

Malsch sets new standards for care with its ultra-low bed IMPULSE edition 500.

At only 15 cm, the reclining surface is only as high as a ballpoint pen in the lowest position. The best news is that the new all-rounder from the Malsch care bed family also has all the proven functions of premium care beds.

Lowest position of just 15 cm

Functionality without compromising on appearance. At this low height position there is no need for a bed rail, even for those at risk of falling. Reduce your staffing requirements and give residents greater self-determination and safety.

An intermediate stop at optimum sitting height enables bed occupants to comfortably get into and out of bed over the edge of the mattress. An optional mobilisation aid provides a stable grab handle for support when getting into and out of bed. One care bed – countless configurations

Flexibility in the choice of reclining surface

The 4-part reclining surfaces with mattress compensation by offer excellent ergonomics and a high degree of comfort. Retracting the back rest during the adjustment process helps to relieve pressure on the buttocks area.

The ABS reclining surface offers ease of handling and quick cleaning as result of its removable plastic surfaces:

  • Rapid, easy cleaning and disinfection
  • Easy to remove/replace
  • Good ventilation for healthy sleep

The flexible spring elements of the comfort reclining surface adapt optimally to the body and are suitable for preventing pressure sores.

  • Additional mattress support when adjusting body
  • Even weight distribution across the entire reclining surface
  • Relief for neck and back muscles
  • Active ventilation for healthy sleep

In the basic version, the metal mesh reclining surface has excellent ventilation properties and enables optimum moisture transfer.

The vertical side rail system

The vertically retractable, split side rail system (VGS) with four height positions can be used flexibly to suit a wide range of application scenarios. The advantages of the telescopic version lie primarily in its compact design, which does not require any space at the side, as well as the extended fall prevention position.

The high-quality anodised aluminium version with a solid wood handrail provides maximum stability and emphasises the high product quality of the IMPULSE.

In addition to securing the bed’s occupant, the safety elements at the head end can be used as a mobilisation aid (1). The secure grab handle provides assistance with getting up or going to bed. The sophisticated layout of the sleeping surface and side rails makes it easier to move into a position to get out of bed.

The standby position (2) of the side rails allows the occupant to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed and enables easy access by lowering all side rail elements.

The extended fall prevention (3) position with tangible boundaries around the sleeping surface counteracts unconscious rolling out and assists care staff during the transfer.

When telescoped to its maximum height, it is possible to completely secure (4) the bed occupant.

Other side rail systems for Malsch care beds

Vertical side rail system with one-handed operation

The vertically retractable side rail system is optionally available with the same functionality as a one-handed operation version.

Swivelling side rail system

For technical reasons, the swivel-mounted version of the split-side rail offers three height positions with the same material properties and stability.

Full-length side rail

As an inexpensive alternative to the split side rails, the IMPULSE is also available with full-length side rails.

Adjusted to new bed occupant –
the integrated bed extension

Changing residents require flexible solutions. The integrated bed extension enables optimal lying comfort, even for tall people.

The reclining surface can be extended in a matter of seconds without tools using a quick-release mechanism. All bed functions remain fully usable in the extended state.

The system can be telescoped in two stages
(by 10 or 20 cm) and does not require additional protectors. For an extension of 20 cm, we recommend using an optional mattress insert.

Hand controller with intuitive operating functions

To conveniently control the bed functions electronically, the IMPULSE care bed has an easy-to-understand, hand controller with intuitive symbols and individual locking functions. The illuminated keys with high-contrast symbols enable the user to find the right operating functions, even in the dark.

Care staff can lock individual functions or the entire hand controller using a key switch on the reverse.

To position the hand controller so that the occupant can reach it, we recommend the optional hand control holder with flexible swan neck. The standard scope of delivery includes a device to hang the hand controller on the side rails or side bar.
